Slow fashion: Timeless pieces
Its a new year & I have updated a few more pieces to my wardrobe. With styling myself I have chosen slow fashion & timeless pieces which brings me to the purchase of these 3 garments (which I bought towards the end of last year, with my clothing purchases less than 8 in 2017. Yay!!).
Timeless pieces to me are pieces that wont outgrow fashion fads which I can easily mix & match with my current wardrobe to get the most wear out of. Stripes are always a staple in my wardrobe, I know they arent for everyone but they complement my skinny frame (I try to stay away from black as it makes me look even skinnier). This t-shirt is from Salvation Army opshop & purchased for $4.
I usually shy away from buying new but my friend Kaysey saw these pants at Frankii ($79.99). The relaxed fit (I plan on using these pants to sew more pants infuture), the gorgeous mustard colour & the fact it was made of linen (it takes less water & chemicals to cultivate than other fibres) had me sold.
I love the bow detailing at the back of this straw hat visor purchased for $8 at Vinnies op shop. Its a perfect summer hat.
Moving forward this year; I am appreciating the clothes I already have, mending, altering & only adding pieces I need (my bathers' elastic are starting to go so I will need another pair infuture) & documenting anything I buy here to keep me on track to buying only what I truly need.
Happy Saturday friends!

Slow fashion
Slow fashion is a term coined to garments & accessories that are made to last & mostly handmade usually in a small batch production. Which is the opposite to fast fashion. In Australia, according to ABC's War on Waste we throw out about 6000 kilograms of textiles waste every 10 minutes. With Slow Fashion October nearing its end. I'm sharing some labels who you will be wanting to keep their clothes forever as most their products are timeless & of high quality.
Hey Jude Kids (Pictured above)
The graphic prints alone have my heart all in a flutter. I'm spewing I missed out on the Bowie collection. Handmade in Dandenong ranges, Melbourne.
Little Noggi
Hats are made in very limited supply (around 50-100 per batch) so you have to be super quick to be able to purchase them. Made in neutral colours & in Australia by the very talented Sheree. Sadly the studio is closed until 2018.
Pons sandals
An ever so stylish summer sandal. You could picture yourself frolicking along the coastline of Menorca where they are made. The soles are made from recycled rubber. Check out this video of sandal production. For authencity, check for the "Avarca de Menorca" label. Predominately available in America, & in Australia it is available in Bondi beach & Camberwell.
Funkis clogs
No wonder the swedish are part of the worlds happiest nation with these comfortable yet stylish clogs. I live in mine the whole year. I seriously push my little one up a hill in a pram in them on the school run & yet to have a blister. Such a bonus they are made with sustainable wood.
Camp Cove swimwear
Bathers made from recycled materials & in Australia. The designs are very 60's inspired.
Limb
I stumbled across this label getting lost in Melbourne. Minimalist fashion at it's best. The lastest collection has just dropped. This label is all about buying less but better quality.
Happy Thursday friends!

Hair Envy
After a testing week of farewelling a family member, struggling with hayfever (which I never get?!?) & developing the unbearably itchy condition PUPPP I have decided I need a fresh look as a pick me up. Im loving these hair styles which I plan to choose one & book myself into a salon for a well deserved pamper session once bambino 2# arrives. In the meanwhile Im practising patience so I don't do a Hannah off Girls tv series & cut my own hair in a middle of a nervous breakdown.
1. Im loving Lara Bingle (or should I say Mrs Worthington's) bob & natural makeup here in the lastest issue of Harpers Bazaar. What Im worried about is outgrowing the bob.
2. My girl crush, raven haired beauty Lily Collins sporting this cropped do. I have had a short do before. Its a gutsy move & requires some effort to style it.
3. Eleanor Pendleton always has divine hair. She is the beauty editor of Gritty Pretty afterall. Those sunkissed caramel hues work well against an olive complexion.
4. Blogger Jessie Khoo rocking red tresses. If only I can find a salon that doesn't use harsh chemicals to receive the same colouring?
Whats your favourite look? 1,2,3 or 4?
Happy Sunday friends!

Perth fashion festival; Restyle 2015
Well PFF Restyle totally snuck up on me this year. Basically a group of creative Perth bloggers are chosen to represent a charity & style up a thrifted outfit (from that charity) to depict each day's theme. I would of loved to have been super organized to do the outfit prompts daily but will stick to mixed prints (edited* animal prints), polka dots, dapper (Kobe) & florals (Instagram only) plus donate a bag of clothes.
For a bit of Restyle inspiration, I thought I would share my favourite looks from past Restyle bloggers.
Hannah from In the dress up box blog is an opshop guru. She finds the most amazing thrifted bargains weekly & has a talent for finding funky sunglasses. She also organized a high tea with friends & ended up with 8 garbage bags of clothes to donate back to Red Cross.
Angie from Lovethread blog knocked it out of the park with her carefully curated outfits, outfit locations & photographers. She puts the P in Professional. Plus I attended her high tea which she raised funds for Esther women's shelter. She also auctioned off most off her Restyle outfits to support Anglicare charity.
Jenelle from Inspiring Wit blog showed us mere mortals how to style thrifted clothes to look effortly sheek & chic.

Looks like Restyle this year is looking bigger with more bloggers getting into the action (some previous Restyle bloggers too). Im definitely keen to check out quirky dresser Andrea of What's the Goh blog & vintage pin up Ally of The Vintage Valley blog this year.
Happy Tuesday friends!

Street style stalking
If its one show of the Telstra Perth fashion show I had to squirrel away pennies to save for a ticket its the closing show which was Zhivago this year. You are guaranteed the fashion savvy crowd bring their A game when choosing their outfits. That & the fact you catch glimpses of the local celebrities, hello Bree Maddox (glowing with baby bump), Ae'lkemi designer Alvin Fernandez, Sam Barnett & entrepreneur Frank Cintamani (ok he is Singapore based but gets my credit as he launched a fashion week in Asia). Sadly I was too shy to ask to snap photos of them but I did manage to sneakily take photos of some of the crowd.
My personal favourite of the night, so modern & sheek. We should be friends lol.
The talent behind Hello Parry (Sandra Lai) & local blogger (Whats the goh) Andrea Goh. Few people can get away with that blunt fringe.
This royal blue ensemble screams Zhivago with the low cut front & big shoulders.
Happy Saturday friends!

Frockstars: Inside Australian Fashion Week
Frockstars: Inside Australian Fashion week exhibition is down to its final days so if your wanting to see it at the Western Australian Museum you have until Monday 27th January to partake in this free exhibition. Go go go:)
Amazingly I was organized & saw this exhibit within its first few weeks of opening & only a few weeks ago have sorted the photos. (I blame the procrastinator in me in the lateness in photo sorting).Friend Chevaun & I saw this free exhibit when we visited Aurelio Costarella exhibition on at the same time.
(The Dion Lee dress in the middle is what dreams are made of, sigh!)
( A sneak peak inside a designers workroom plus there is also a wall of behind the scene photos with celebritys posing with designers).
Nothing like unleashing our inner fashion designers & letting loose creatively in the Easton Pearson workroom. I went a bit crazy & used leftover paper offcuts to make the floral ruffle tiers on my mini fashionista creation where Chevaun excelled & made a collection of 2 outfits.
More info can be found here.
Happy Friday!

Aurelio Costarella Exhibition: 30 year perspective
When I heard that self taught & hugely successful West Australian designer Aurelio Costarella was having a free exhibition at the Western Australian museum I didn't think twice about dropping Kobe (along with my mothers guilt) at poppy's for half the day.
Together with friend Chevaun, we oohed & ahhed over his fabulous creations. I can just imagine myself in that delicious burnt orange frock frolicking in parks on playdates (ha ha).
His gowns were cleverly dotted throughout the museum casually mingling in with the dinosaurs & animals. You definitely get your workout for the day running up/down stairs losing yourself in the sequins & frills.
I never realized that he use to trade under the name Ray Costarella until a deal went sour with his business partner in 1977 & he had to quit the label. Ray wasn't even his first name but a business name given to him by a former primary school teacher. In 2000, he was back in the game trading under his own name Aurelio Costarella. Fashion is a fickle industry & after the shock demise of Aussie designers Lisa Ho, Kirrily Johnston & Dana Mathers I too wonder if they will rejoin the fashion industry later down the track.
So much detailing goes into Aurelio's gowns with sequins, feathers, lace, beading & layers of fabric featuring in many of them. I even heard a rumour that Victoria Beckham regifted one of his gowns, VB I would gladly take any hand me downs lol :)
This exhibition is definitely worth a look for any Perth people & is on for a few more days until February 2nd. More info can be found here.
Happy Friday!

Perth street style: ECU graduate show
While everyone else was dolled up in their finest threads
ready to head out & celebrate New years eve I was winding down in my
pajamas sorting thru these lovely fash photos forcing partner Luke to watch the
Back to the future movie trilogy (so old school but that’s meJ).
In a sea of same same outfits, I love people who stand out
& bring their own style. When not in my usual mama uniform of frumpy
t-shirts & trackies I tend to side to a bit of quirkiness. Here are a few
of my fave street style looks borrowed from the crowd who attended the Jiva
Stemmata ECU fashion graduate show held a few weeks back.
Australias own Carrie Bradshaw!
The flower crown, a summer staple.
Pretty in pastel & I want that top badly...
That rainbow hair = divine.
What Luke would be wearing if he ever let me style him. FYI he would never let me style him. Pigs would sooner fly. This guy gets my vote for "best dressed guy at the show".
Last of all me (far right) with my lovely dates for the evening.
Happy Thursday friends!
